Over 1,000 tree seedlings were planted in the “Green Park CRIC-21” in Samarkand region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Today, in Samarkand, within the framework of the 21st session of the Committee for the Review of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the “Green Park CRIC-21” was created.

The event was attended by Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Executive Secretary of the Convention to Combat Desertification and Drought Ibrahim Thiaw, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziza Abdukhakimova, as well as representatives of foreign delegations.

During the event, 1000 tree seedlings were planted in the CRIC-21 Green Park.

For information, the park area is 2.5 hectares and will be turned into a public park for residents and visitors of the region. It is worth noting, when looking at the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Uzbek people, the relationship between society and nature is often represented by the symbol of a tree.

The national project “Yashil Makon” (“Green Space”), initiated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has become traditional today. As part of this project, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Forestry Agency under the Ministry are planting tree seedlings throughout the country.

In particular, over the 2 years since the start of the implementation of this project, more than 1,200 hectares of “green” gardens and public parks, and more than 1 million hectares of “green” plantings along sidewalks have been created in residential areas. This year, the “autumn tree planting season” has been declared from 25 October to 1 December, during which 85 million trees are planned to be planted.

In addition, it is planned to plant 5 million trees in forestry, create a “green belt” around landfills and in areas of large industrial enterprises, plant 20 million seedlings of poplar, mulberry and grape bushes along fields, plant 3.5 million seedlings in the territory of kindergartens, schools, universities and hospitals, as well as on an area of 100 thousand hectares of the dried bottom of the Aral Sea, it is planned to create a “green cover”.
