Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Iranian agency Tasnim reported that the number of victims of the terrorist attack in Iran increased to 103 people, and over 140 more were injured.
Earlier, Iranian media, citing emergency services, reported that the number of victims of the terrorist attack had increased to 73, and another 170 were injured, RIA Novosti reports.
Two explosions occurred on Wednesday in the Iranian city of Kerman at the grave of the former commander of the Al-Quds special forces, General Qassem Soleimani, Iranian television previously stated, Interfax reports. The footage shown shows people running away and medical personnel heading to the scene.
The explosions took place on the day of remembrance of Soleimani, who was killed in Baghdad on January 3, 2020 as a result of an American airstrike. Along with him, the deputy head of the Iraqi Shiite militia, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, was killed.
Two bombs that caused an explosion near the cemetery, where mourning processions took place on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Soleimani, were placed in bags and detonated remotely, RIA Novosti notes, citing the Iranian state agency Tasnim.
“At the entrance to the Gulzar Mausoleum building at the cemetery in Kerman there were two bags with bombs, which the perpetrators of this incident apparently detonated using a remote device,” the report said.
