He said that Uzbekistan adopted a law “On introduction of the Uzbek alphabet, based on Latin graphic” in 1993. He said that 23 years past and still the Uzbek alphabet on Latin graphic is not fully rooted in our lives. He added that many questions exist in this sphere.
Sarvar Otamuratov said that children were taught based on Latin graphic. But he questioned if the country has enough publications, books, newspapers and magazines. At the same time, he said that majority of elder generation do not Latin graphic. There is gap between generation, he added. This issue should be solved, he noted.
He also pointed to problems on correct use of rules of the Uzbek language, including in advertisement and announcements.
Otamuratov noted that the Uzbek language should be widely used in fundamental science, ICT, industry, banking-financial system, law, diplomacy, etc.
