Uzbekistan 12/07/2007 OSCE delegation visits Uzbek Interior Ministry for talks

 

A delegation comprised of the senior police advisor to the OSCE secretary-general, Kevin Carty, the OSCE project coordinator in Uzbekistan, Miroslav Jenca, and the OCSE project coordinator’s national advisor in Uzbekistan, Nodir Khudoyberganov, has visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Uzbek newspaper Na Postu reported on 7 July.

 

The first deputy minister of internal affairs of Uzbekistan, Maj-Gen G. Qodirov, received the visitors and held talks with them. In particular, he correctly described the criminal situation in the republic by emphasizing the activities of law-enforcement bodies on combating manifestations of international terrorism, religious extremism, as well as the fight against the spread of drugs.

 

On his part, Carty thanked the receiving side for a warm welcome and noted that interaction between the OCSE and state structures of Uzbekistan, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is developing dynamically in various spheres. He spoke in detail about activities within the framework of a project regarding the improvement of the system of training specialists at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
