OSCE Centre promotes development of renewable energy market in Turkmenistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An OSCE Centre-supported seminar that ended on 25 September in Ashgabat focused on the sustainability of solar and wind energy systems.

Organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, the three-day seminar aimed at sharing best practices in the areas of technology development, renewable energy market creation, management and policy in other OSCE participating States.

The seminar, conducted by an international expert, focused on topics such as new developments in solar and algae technology, the impact of renewable energy policy on climate change, wind power development in Europe and European energy security. Special emphasis was put on discussions, group work and case studies.

"Turkmenistan has a very high potential for developing renewable energy resources, especially solar and wind," said Ambassador Arsim Zekolli, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat. "This seminar was the very first of its kind to be organized by the OSCE in Turkmenistan, and it provided a platform for exchanging ideas and information concerning renewable energy research and projects in Turkmenistan as well as other participating States."

The seminar brought together 15 representatives from the Institute of Solar Energy, the National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Energy and Industry and the state power company "Turkmenenergo".
