Oriental motifs in German music
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 September, Tashkent's Turkiston Palace of Arts will host a concert titled “The East and Handel” by the State Chamber Orchestra of Uzbekistan.

The concert will feature soloists from Germany. The concert has been organized by the Embassy of Germany in Uzbekistan in collaboration with the Fund Forum. The concert will become the first in the series of events to be held as part of German Week in Uzbekistan.

George Frideric Handel, a prominent German composer of the baroque age, created many works featuring oriental motifs. In the upcoming projects the musicians from the State Chamber Orchestra will play oriental melodies by Handel and will present an opera-style staging which will be demonstrated in famous areas of the East.

This combination of traditional eastern and western cultures is expected to become a riveting concert. The Tashkent event will be followed by concerts in Samarkand and Shakhrisabz cities.

From September to November, the Embassy of Germany and the Fund Forum will organize a collaborative project on video art, a series of exhibitions, classical music and jazz concerts, a language study master class and a German-Uzbek soccer tournament, which will be held as part of the German Weeks in Uzbekistan.
