Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Board of Governors of the International Development Fund (OFID) of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) provided Uzbekistan with a loan of US$54 million, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The funds will be used to finance the project on the provision of drinking water in 22 settlements of Yangikurgan district and partly in the city of Namangan.

The project will be implemented in 2020-2025. As a result, more than 200,000 mostly rural residents of Namangan region will be provided with clean drinking water.

The OPEC OFID loan will be issued for 20 years with a five-year grace period.
