Oman delegation heads for Uzbekistan to explore new trade avenues
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy of Oman and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, will leave for the Republic of Uzbekistan today, heading a delegation of officials from the government and private sectors.

Macki’s delegation includes Hamood Sangour Al Zedjali, executive president of Central Bank of Oman (CBO), Saud bin Nassir Al Shakili, secretary-general of taxation at the Ministry of Finance, Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khonji, chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammed bin Said Al Lawati, the Sultanate’s non-resident ambassador to Uzbekistan, and a number of officials from the Finance Ministry, the National Economy Ministry and the State Reserve Fund.

A delegation of Omani businessmen, which includes Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali, chairman and editor-in-chief of Times of Oman, will also accompany the minister.

Macki will hold talks with senior Uzbek government officials on promoting bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He will sign an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and an agreement on the protection of mutual investments between the two countries.

The Omani private sector officials will explore the potentials and opportunities through which joint business and trade cooperation can be established to increase the volume of reciprocal trade and set up joint ventures in both countries.

OCCI Chairman Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khonji said the delegation will hold a number of meetings with Uzbek officials, businessmen and representatives of commercial and trade establishments aimed at exploring new investment and trade opportunities. We will also look into signing memorandums of understanding with the Commerce Chamber of Uzbekistan and other economic and business institutions, he said.

He said the Sultanate had previously hosted a business delegation representing a number of sectors in Uzbekistan.

We hope that the visit would meet its aspired goals and open up a new horizon of cooperation between the two sides, particularly in the augmentation of trade exchange and benefiting from the expertise of Uzbekistan in the field of technology, Al Khonji said.

The visit would provide the Omani delegation with the opportunity to acquaint itself with the economic and commercial opportunities in Uzbekistan.
