Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of the construction of the Olympic Village, which is being built in preparation for the Asian and Para-Asian Youth Games scheduled for next year.
The extensive complex will cover 100 hectares and will be equipped with everything necessary for the successful hosting of the games. The program of the games includes 29 sports, with over 3,000 athletes from 45 countries participating.
Construction of key facilities is already in the final stages: the Olympic Stadium with a capacity of 12,000 seats, a velodrome for 2,000 spectators, an aquatic sports palace, as well as facilities for combat sports and team games have been completed.
The President reviewed the construction progress, paying particular attention to issues of safety and digitalization, including the use of artificial intelligence technologies. Additionally, 15 open sports fields and an administrative building with museums and offices will be constructed.
After the Asian Games, the Olympic Village will continue to function as a major hub for domestic sports. Plans include establishing a training and research center on its premises, as well as housing the Ministry of Sports, the Anti-Doping Agency, and other sports organizations. The village will be managed according to "smart city" principles and will become an important center for sports and wellness for many years to come.
