Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Reports circulating on social media about a surge in acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in Uzbekistan do not reflect reality, according to Nurmat Atabekov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health.

“The current situation with seasonal respiratory illnesses in the country is stable, and there is no cause for concern. The peak of ARVI cases typically occurs during the autumn-winter and winter-spring seasons, but this is not a reason for alarm,” he stated.

Atabekov explained that recent temperature fluctuations have led many people to dress inappropriately for the weather. Additionally, during cold seasons, reduced air circulation indoors contributes to the spread of viruses.

As preventive measures, he advised citizens to:

• Avoid crowded places if experiencing symptoms
• Maintain social distancing
• Follow doctors’ recommendations

He also emphasized the importance of a balanced diet and dressing according to the weather to boost immunity.
