Nuriddin Ismoilov and Vyacheslav Volodin discuss strengthening parliamentary relations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 March 2025, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Nuriddin Ismoilov, met with a delegation led by Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin.
At the beginning of the meeting, the guests were presented with detailed information on the large-scale reforms being implemented within the framework of the updated Constitution and the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy. They were also briefed on the structure of the Legislative Chamber, its legislative activities, and the key responsibilities of its committees and commissions.
In response, Vyacheslav Volodin expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that relations between the two countries have significantly strengthened in recent years, expanding into an increasingly diverse range of areas. He highlighted the steady positive trend in the development of multifaceted cooperation.
It was also emphasized that bilateral ties are actively evolving, with Uzbekistan-Russia relations taking on a new format and interactions across various sectors becoming more dynamic, thereby fostering a stronger multilateral dialogue.
The guest highly praised the comprehensive reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and commended President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s constructive and open foreign policy, which is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation.
Both parties underscored the importance of further expanding interparliamentary cooperation and elevating it to a qualitatively new level, as this plays a crucial role in enhancing bilateral relations. In this regard, the need to improve the work of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the State Duma of the Russian Federation was highlighted.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on organizing interparliamentary forums, dialogues between political parties and parliamentary factions, and identified promising areas for further collaboration.
The negotiations took place in a constructive atmosphere.
