Number of monopoly enterprises is decreasing in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of monopoly enterprises is decreasing in Uzbekistan, the State Demonopolization Committee said on 28 April 2011.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the volume of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan in 2010 reached 61.831 trillion soums (+8.5%).

The State Demonopolization Committee underlined that the production of monopoly and services at goods market in Uzbekistan made up 11.889 trillion soums in 2010, which is 19% up year-on-year. The share of monopoly services and products to GDP made up 19.2%, which is down by 1.6%.

Number of the monopoly enterprises in the State monopoly enterprises registrar decreased by 17 in 2010 and the volume of monopoly goods production grew 1.19 times.

Share of machinery and metallurgy in total volume of produced monopoly products made up 30%, oil and gas industry – 31%, monopoly services – 16.7%, construction materials – 5.8%, chemical industry – 5.3%, consumer goods – 4.9%, mining and selling coal – 0.6%, bakery products – 0.4%, electrotechnical products – 0.4% and other goods – 4.9%.

The committee said that the growth of production of monopoly products increased in all considered industries in 2010 compared to previous years.

Main growth of monopoly goods and services fell to large enterprises such as GM Uzbekistan (production volume – 2.626 trillion soums in 2010 or up 15% compared to 2009), Bukhara Oil Processing Plant (534.7 billion soums, 39%), Jarkurganneft (15.2 billion soums, 31%), Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine (725.1 billion soums, 32%) and Shortan Gaz Chemical Complex (500.3 billion soums, 50%).
