Popularity of USB-modems among subscribers of Beeline in Uzbekistan is growing stable, so the sales increased 46% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2009. Number of Beeline USB-modem users grew 1.5 times.
Commenting the result of sales, Unitel Director-General Igor Pilyugin said: “Today data transfer services and broadband internet is the most actual and demanded in our 3G network. We are sure that updated tariff plan Click Maxi, which offers 1 Mb traffic for only 5 soums, will promote further growth of number of Beeline USB-modem users.”
USB-modem allows to access high speed Internet in any point, where Beeline 2G and 3G network exists.
Beeline launched commercial exploitation of 3G network in Uzbekistan on 2 December 2008. 3G network covers central districts of Tashkent. Unique proposal ensured Beeline subscribers to access Internet at the speed up to 3.6 Mb/sec, which allowed significantly increase speed of data transfer and load of multimedia contest download. From 20 May 2009, Unitel clients received opportunity to exchange multimedia messages with subscribers of VimpelCom Group in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Armenia and Georgia.
On the result of research of J’son & Partners Consulting, VimpelCom was recognized as leader among “big troika” (Vimpelcom, MTS, Megafon) operators on number of regions in Russia, where 3G network was built. Currently, Beeline 3G networks launched in 51 regions of the country and on the assessment of J’son & Partners is the largest 3G network in Russia.
According to J’son & Partners data, the most demand of service of the company in 3G network is data transfer, which is true for Uzbekistan as well. At the same time, the service demanded among home users of Beeline USB-modems, not mobile handsets users.
Beeline has 3G networks in Armenia and Tajikistan along with Uzbekistan and Russia. Third generation network was commissioned in testing mode in Kazakhstan.
