Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan continues to implement projects to strengthen cooperation with the world's leading sports powers. As you know, a Memorandum was previously signed with the Chinese Olympic Committee, and as part of the continuation of this project, a similar agreement was reached today with the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

The event was held online, from Uzbekistan was attended by: President of the NOC Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, Secretary General Oybek Kasymov and other representatives of the organization. Ukraine was represented by the President of the NOC of Ukraine, the legendary athlete, Olympic champion Serhiy Bubka. It should be noted that the event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Ukraine, Alisher Kurmanov.

It is noteworthy that initially the signing of the Memorandum was scheduled for 21 March, during the visit of the President of the NOC of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka to Tashkent. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the signing of the memorandum was postponed. During the event, Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov spoke in detail about the reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of our esteemed President in order to develop sports.

“During the quarantine period, during the online weightlifting competition, which took place on the eve of the holiday of our Independence, Ukrainian athletes performed very successfully, which indicates your hard work during the pandemic. You yourself are an example for thousands of representatives of the former Soviet Union. Many dreamed of becoming as great an athlete as you. It is a great honor for me to see Ukrainian athletes and coaches in Uzbekistan within the framework of our cooperation. Also, it should be noted that you occupy a special place in Uzbek sports. In 2014, you were one of the first to lay the foundation for the construction of the current building of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and our athletics base. "

President of the NOC of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka, in turn, noted that he was very pleased with bilateral cooperation and thanked for the continuation of friendly relations between our countries in the field of sports.

According to the Memorandum, it is planned to organize joint training camps for national teams in preparation for major competitions, to establish consistent cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of sports medicine and pharmacology. Moreover, coaches from Ukraine in swimming, fencing, athletics, gymnastics, archery and rowing will share their experience with our specialists.
