NIPC holds financial literacy classes in schools

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 27 and 28 November, the National Interbank Processing Center (NIPC) held interactive classes to improve financial literacy for students in grades 6 of secondary schools No. 5 and No. 324.

The goal of the project was to promote the formation of reasonable financial behavior among young people, informed decisions and a responsible attitude to personal finances, and to increase efficiency in protecting the rights of consumers of financial services.

“Unlike Western countries, where the basics of financial literacy are taught, starting from elementary school, in our country, students will learn about what loans and bank cards are, at best, in the economy in high school. We consider it important to take part in the formation of youth financial literacy and encourage everyone to start educating their children in the basic aspects of the safety of their finances.

We have clearly demonstrated the difference between cash and plastic cards: how is payment made, what is the difference; why generally need cards as a replacement for cash, and how to protect yourself from fraud / fraud. To our surprise, most students were well aware of the principles of plastic cards, asked very interesting questions and were fully involved in the lesson.

“In the future, we plan to conduct similar classes in other schools, as well as launch some more interesting projects for schools. We hope that the students have learned that under no circumstances should anyone tell even the cashiers the PIN code of the card, the serial number and the service life,” Kurbanov Shukhratbek, director of the NIPC, said.

During the seminars, the possibilities of financial transactions that are provided to HUMO card holders, including contactless payment, were demonstrated.
