The seminar was organized by International Center for training journalists at assistance of the Fund on support of social initiatives. Over 30 representatives of NGOs and journalists attended it.

Participants of the seminar noted that today development of civil society is one of the main priorities of the state policy of Uzbekistan. At the same time, it is necessary to expand work on informing citizens of Uzbekistan, leaders and members of NGOs, public organizations on political, social principles and priorities of civil society and its institutes.

Currently, NGOs in Uzbekistan operate in various spheres, assisting the government in solving actual problems of social direction. They have wide opportunities in receiving grants by the government, which are directed at implementing their social tasks.

According to experts, the meeting became good opportunity for further training of participants with legislation on NGOs, theoretical and practical skills in PR technologies for informing about activity of public organizations. Besides, it was directed at raising professionalism level of local journalists, covering public-political topics, regular coverage of NGOs’ socially important projects.

The participants noted that mass media should pay attention to contribution of public organizations in solving social problems in Uzbekistan.
