The first line of bioleaching department with capacity of 3 million tonnes of ore a year will be put into operation until the end of 2008, and the second line with capacity of 2 million tonnes of ore will be put in 2009.

The enterprise will also proceed to construction of experimental-industrial sector for uranium production using the method of underground leaching at the field of Alendi. Next year the enterprise plans to start mine construction at the fields of Ketmenchi, Meylisay and Tutlin square at the cost of about US$30 million.

This year on October NGMK put into operation a starting complex on uranium production at the field of Northern Kanimeh. Equipment supply to launch starting complex at the cost of about US$14 million was made owing to credits of German company Nukem GmbH. Total investment volumes in this field development, which will take five years, made US$30 million. NGMK is a monopolistic operator in Uzbekistan on uranium production, concentration and exporting.

According to the data of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Uzbekistan occupies seventh place in the world ranking on uranium reserves and fifth place on uranium production. For the present moment about 40 fields with uranium reserves, the foundation of which is made by 27, were explored.

According to the data of information center of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral resources of the country, explored and estimated uranium reserves make 185,800 tonnes. Uranium production in Uzbekistan rose by 0.5% (up to 2,270 tonnes) in 2007.

Uzbekistan doesn’t have own nuclear industry and all produced low-concentrated uranium is exported. The enterprise all the time delivers construction of new mines and industrial unites, exploration and development works at perspective fields, provides growth of new enterprises. NGMK cooperates with 80 foreign companies; in particular it has close relations with nuclear scientists of Kazakhstan.
