NGMK to build emulsion explosives plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine (NGMK) will launch construction of a new plant on production of emulsion explosives with the cost of US$12 million in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Prime reported that the Government of Uzbekistan approved feasibility study of the project with the capacity of 30,000 tonnes of explosives a year. The plant will be constructed within a two years.

The project will be financed due to own resources of NGMK. In July-August 2012, the company plans to announced a tender on selection of general contractor for the plant construction. New capacities will allow to meet demand for explosives at explosive works at Zarmitan gold ore zone in Samarkand region.

In August 2010, NGMK launched gold extracting facility at Zarmitan. The capacity of the facility is 1.1 million tonnes a year. It is planned to launch processing capacities with the 1.8 million tonnes of ore a year by 2013. The facility will reach its full capacity by the end of 2015.

In 2002, Germany’s Dynamit Nobel launched a plant on production of emulsion explosives for NGMK with the cost of US$10 million. The capacity of the plant is 45,000 tonnes a year. The plant allowed to meet demand of mining sector for explosives.
