New traffic rules approved in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Government of Uzbekistan with its resolution approved the traffic rules.

According to the resolution, the speed of traffic in settlements is allowed no more than 70 kilometers per hour, on roads around schools and kindergartens - 30 kilometers per hour at a distance of up to 300 meters, and in residential areas and adjacent territories (on a land plot between residential buildings) - no more than 20 kilometers per hour.

At the same time, based on the decision of the Republican Commission in the field of road safety, formed by the relevant resolution of the President, the maximum speed of traffic in areas with high traffic intensity and high population density - in the cities of Tashkent, Nukus and regional centers - can be set at 60 kilometers per hour.

Carriage of goods by cars is allowed if the height of the load in the trunk installed on their roof is not more than 1 meter (except for the transportation of bicycles reinforced with special devices) and the length is not more than 0.5 meters from the dimensions of the car.

Trucks are required to move only on the right side of the carriageway in all cases, with some exceptions established by the traffic rules.

It is forbidden to stop vehicles on bends and without reaching or passing 30 meters before them.

Cyclists moving on a carriageway without a cycle path at night and in conditions of insufficient visibility are required to wear reflective jackets or outerwear with reflective elements.

At the same time, these reflective elements must be visible to other drivers.

Also, targeted events will be held among the population and drivers on topics related to the transportation of children under the age of 7 years in special child seats, children aged 7 to 12 years with seat belts with special restraints, as well as passengers in the back seat transport, with seat belts.

The new version of the traffic rules will come into effect on 1 May 2022.
