The programme was approved by the presidential resolution from 20 March 2013, the press service of Uzbektourism recalled.
Head of regional department of Uzbektourism Adilbek Rakhimov presented achievements, reached within the implementation of the programme in Khorezm region.
He said that within the programme the region carried out work on improving tour products and services, organization historic-scientific, historic-ethnic, cultural-entertainment tours, as well as ecologic tours. Currently, there are 255 objects of cultural heritage, of which 18 are archeological objects, 133 - architecture objects, 66 – sculptures, and 22 – holy places.
He said that the regions is creating tourism complexes and develops fishery, improves infrastructure, constructs parks, hotels, catering, trade and entertainment objects.
Within the programme, the region is constructing 27 new hotels and three buildings are reconstructed to hotels, while four existing hotels are modernized.
GIZ representative Hannelore Bendsen said that the region has significant potential for development of tourism. She briefed participants on opportunities on diversification of tour products and shared recommendations on further improving services of tour service vendors.
