Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 8 July, a meeting was held at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis with a delegation led by Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the historical ties between Uzbekistan and China have continued from ancient times to the present day, strengthened by friendly relations and strong political will between the leaders of both countries.

The parties noted the significant role of parliaments in the relations between the two countries and highlighted the importance of enriching it with practical content. They underscored the importance of activating the work of friendship parliamentary groups, conducting mutual visits, establishing close ties between committees, exchanging experience in legislative work, and parliamentary oversight.

The guests supported proposals to enhance ties between local councils of Uzbekistan’s regions and provinces of China, strengthening regional cooperation.

It was emphasized during the negotiations that cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and China should deepen not only in trade and economics but also in cultural, humanitarian, scientific, and educational spheres.

At the conclusion of the meeting, agreements were reached to strengthen the legal framework of bilateral relations, develop cooperation within international parliamentary structures, and provide constant support for mutual initiatives.

Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, left a note in the Book of Honored Guests of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
