New small hydro power stations launched in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Two new small hydro power stations have been commissioned in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent and Kashkadarya regions.

In Tashkent region, the station was launched at Ahangaran water reservoir, while the second was commissioned at Aksu river, which feeds Gissar water reservoir, UzA reported.

The power of the two installed hydro aggregates at Ahangaran small hydro power station makes up 21 MW. The second station in Kashkadarya region can produce about 1 million kWh per day.

New energy object at Ahangran water reservoir already produced 300 million kWh of electricity. The launch of the station allowed to increase potential of energy system of Agriculture and Water Management Ministry of Uzbekistan by 66.5 million kWh per year.

The station in Kashkadarya region will work mostly during the vegetation period of grain and other crops grown in Shahrisabz, Kitab and Yakkabag districts.

The launch of the two power stations has increased the capacity of the Agriculture and Water Management Ministry’s energy system from 323 MW to 439 MW.

Their opening concludes the first stage of the program of creation of the high-pressure hydro power stations at water reservoirs.

Other existing small hydro power stations in Uzbekistan are Andijan, Tuyamuyun, Tupolang and Urgut stations.
