New projects worth US$700 million to be launched in the textile industry.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted obstacles to the export of goods such as knitwear, household appliances, fresh fruits, grapes and food products from Uzbekistan. Exporters prefer to stay in familiar markets, avoiding the risks of new directions.

A video conference meeting is being held under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the tasks of further expanding the conditions for the production and export of finished products with high added value, as well as the development of services and tourism.

It was instructed to identify 10 promising markets for 10 products with high export potential. The President instructed to hold negotiations and take measures to simplify certification, reduce duties and fees.

New production and export opportunities have been identified in various industries. For example, local businesses can replace imports of home textiles, bed linen, towels, mattresses and curtains.

In 2024, it is planned to ensure an increase in added value in the textile industry through the launch of new projects worth at least US$700 million. Knitwear dyeing capacity is planned to increase by 40%, fabric production by 30%.

Some US$200 million has been allocated for a new support system for manufacturers of finished textile products. These funds will be used to build dyeing shops near water treatment plants and reimburse the costs of water treatment.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also emphasized the importance of creating conditions for promoting Uzbek products in world markets under well-known brands.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry was instructed to negotiate the placement of orders at enterprises in Uzbekistan with 30 well-known brands of home textiles, underwear, shoes, carpets, sanitary ware, etc.

Measures are being introduced to attract the production of branded products to the country, including reimbursement of certification costs for enterprises cooperating with global brands. Provided that production under an international brand is localized by at least 60%, raw materials are exempt from customs duties.

Companies producing at least 30% of their products under global brands will receive benefits, as well as exemption from work permit fees for global brand specialists.
