Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, Director of the Global Forum on Greening and Forests Julieta Biao Kudenukpo, who is in our country on a working visit.

Issues of developing multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN were discussed, in particular, issues of implementing projects in the areas of healthcare, ecology, and climate change.

In recent years, together with specialized UN agencies in Uzbekistan, a number of projects have been launched in the field of green economy, climate change, and trade development.

The UN FAO project “Capacity building to create an integrated and expanded transparency system in Uzbekistan to track national actions to combat climate change and provide technical assistance” is being effectively implemented.

An exchange of views took place on the implementation of new projects in the fight against climate change, taking into account its impact on children, youth and women.

Currently, the Central Asian region is increasingly experiencing the consequences of global climate change. The drying up of the Aral Sea has caused a complex of environmental and socio-economic problems in the region. From this point of view, during the conversation the importance of implementing new measures with the active participation of the UN and its specialized agencies for the widespread introduction of “green” technologies and technical support for attracting modern climate technologies was emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, which was held in a constructive and practical manner, an agreement was reached on the systematic continuation of the dialogue, sustainable development, protection and promotion of human rights, as well as expanding the scope of jointly implemented projects.
