Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Eldiyor Toshmatov presented his credentials to the Director General of the UN Office in Switzerland Tatiana Valovaya, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the ceremony, a brief exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of Uzbekistan’s relations with the UN.

Tatiana Valovaya was informed about the large-scale and comprehensive reforms being carried out at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in all spheres of public life, as well as about the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.

The Director General of the UN Office expressed support for initiatives aimed at further developing the economy and improving the well-being of the population.

The visit of the head of the UN Office in Geneva to Uzbekistan in December 2022 and the thematic photo exhibition “17 Faces of Action” dedicated to the gender issue held in Tashkent were noted.

Particular attention was paid to the measures taken in Uzbekistan to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially in the field of ensuring gender equality and the active participation of women in public life.

Tatiana Valovaya noted the intensification of Uzbekistan’s interaction with the UN and an open dialogue with specialized structures in Geneva, especially in the human rights field.
