Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uztemiryulkonteyner JSC has successfully developed a new multimodal route for container shipments from Indian ports of Mundra, Nhava Sheva, and Chennai to Uzbekistan. The cargo is transported by sea from India to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, and then by rail to the Sergeli station.
Containers are initially transported from Bandar Abbas port to Serakhs station on Iranian platforms. They are then transferred to the platforms of Uzbekistan Railways and sent to Uzbekistan via Turkmenistan.
The first cargo train, consisting of 20 containers each measuring 20 feet, covered a distance of 2,673 km in 20 days. There are plans to reduce the delivery time to 15 days in the future.
