New industrial zone being developed in Yangikhayot

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the under-construction specialized industrial zone "Yangi Avlod" in the Yangikhayot district of Tashkent.

With the growing industrial and entrepreneurial development in the country, there is an increasing demand for additional production areas. The industrial zone, created by a presidential decree on 20 March 2024, will provide the necessary space for numerous new enterprises.

Covering an area of 764 hectares, the zone will become a crucial part of the region’s economy. Currently, the required infrastructure is actively being constructed. As part of this project, 47 investment projects worth a total of US$1.375 billion will be implemented, covering industries such as food production, construction materials, electrical engineering, machinery, and chemicals. These enterprises will create about 12,000 new jobs.

The President noted that the enterprises within the zone will work in cooperation with leading international brands. Among them are companies like DP World, JAC Motors, Krantas, Acec Japan, East Can Solutions, EAS, and Evyap, which plan to produce high value-added products for export.

The President was presented with specific projects being implemented within the zone.

For instance, the Chinese company CAMC Engineering will manage the zone, attract investors, and develop the infrastructure. JAC Motors plans to organize the production of commercial vehicles. This US$135 million project will create 2,000 jobs.

In cooperation with Japanese company Acec Japan, a project to produce office furniture and chairs will be launched. This US$9 million project will provide jobs for 100 people.

Collaboration with DP World from the United Arab Emirates will focus on creating a transportation and logistics center.

The zone will also feature laboratories, research centers, conference rooms, and commercial spaces. The implementation of dual education will allow for training specialists for industrial enterprises on-site.

"In recent years, our GDP has doubled, reaching US$110 billion. Our goal now is to bring this figure to US$200 billion. Without creating all the conditions for investors and fully supporting projects, we will not achieve this result. Tashkent must become an example in this regard," said the President.

Officials have been tasked with paying special attention to localization, digitization, and energy conservation during the implementation of the projects.
