Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 October 2024, a meeting was held between Dilshod Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and Arthur Parfenchikov, Head of the Republic of Karelia.
The economy of the Republic of Karelia, located in the northwest of the Russian Federation, is largely based on the export of construction materials and natural resources, including timber, cellulose, and paper. The region’s imports primarily consist of industrial equipment, technology, and consumer goods, driven by the needs of local industry and its limited manufacturing base.
The parties discussed key aspects of developing cooperation between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Karelia, with particular emphasis on joint projects in tourism, construction, mining, and the food industry.
Additionally, plans were discussed for organizing a visit by a delegation of the Uzbek business community to the Republic of Karelia by the end of 2024.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Karelia, marking an important step toward strengthening partnership relations and opening new opportunities for joint projects.
