Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The visit of Ming Cheng, head of the German educational institution Ming CHENG Institut GmbH, to Tashkent marks a new stage in strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and Germany in the fields of education and labor migration, Dunyo news agency reported.
The visit was organized with the support of the Uzbek General Consulate in Frankfurt am Main as part of the implementation of the decree by the President of Uzbekistan "On Additional Measures for Regulating Foreign Employment Processes" from 17 October 2024. This decree aims to expand the geography of labor migration, including to Germany.
Founded in 2016 at the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences in Halle, Germany, Ming CHENG Institut GmbH has the right to issue the "FSP" certificate for foreign students applying to German universities. The institute currently educates around 400 students from 50 countries, including Uzbekistan.
In July 2024, the first German-Uzbek faculty was opened at Ming CHENG Institut GmbH based at the Tashkent State Pedagogical University.
On 5 November 2024, Ming CHENG Institut GmbH and Andijan State University signed a Memorandum of Intent to establish a joint German-Uzbek educational institution in Andijan. This marks a new step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The new institution will train specialists in high-demand fields in Germany, using German quality standards and methodologies, which will provide graduates with employment opportunities in European Union countries.
On 7 November, Ming Cheng met with Azimjon Khusanov, Deputy Director of the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan. The discussion focused on language preparation and the implementation of educational programs for labor migration. The German side expressed readiness to support the development of Uzbekistan’s educational system and proposed opening a branch of Ming CHENG Institut GmbH in Tashkent. The branch would specialize in language and professional training for specialists aiming to work in Germany and other EU countries.
Both sides emphasized the importance of implementing these projects. Representatives of the Migration Agency confirmed their readiness to provide the necessary support for the successful implementation of joint labor migration initiatives.
The branch of Ming CHENG Institut GmbH in Tashkent is expected to become a center for professional training and certification in professions that are in demand in the EU. This will significantly expand opportunities for Uzbek citizens in the European labor market.
