Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, the new Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ashraf Khojaev presented a copy of his credentials to the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraihi, Dunyo news agency reported.

The Minister of State congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a responsible post and wished him success in his diplomatic activities.

During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of bilateral multifaceted cooperation, as well as interaction in the format of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf - Central Asia.

It was emphasized that Uzbek-Qatari relations acquired new dynamics after the state visit of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Uzbekistan in June and the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Doha in October last year.

Mutual interest was expressed in further expanding economic ties, increasing trade volumes and cooperation in the implementation of joint investment projects.

An agreement was reached to intensify mutual contacts at various levels, including on organizing visits and events this year.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan arrived in Doha on 11 February. Before his appointment, he worked as Director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ashraf Khojaev became the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Qatar with residence in Doha.
