Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has appointed a new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Afghanistan.
Today, Oybek Usmanov, the newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan, arrived in the Afghan capital, Kabul, according to Dunyo news agency.
From 2020 to 2024, Usmanov served as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Pakistan. He has been with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1998, holding various roles both within the central office and in international missions.
Prior to his appointment to Afghanistan, Usmanov served as ambassador to Egypt and Pakistan and acted as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan from 2011 to 2012.
He succeeds Yodgorhoja Shadmanov, who represented Uzbekistan’s interests in Afghanistan from 2012 to 2024.
