The line was launched in line with the resolution of the Government of Uzbekistan “On approval of regulation on organization of collection and utilization of mercury-containing lamps”.

Pravda Vostoka newspaper reported that the experimental works were completed recently. The enterprise receive certificate of adherence to ecologic norms.

Qozimbek Yaminov, master of utilization shop, said that the company purchased two equipments for utilization of mercury-containing lamps. Each equipment allow to utilize 400 lamps per hour. The equipments allow to liquidate 99.5% of mercury gases.

The paper said that Neo Sun Light and Uzeltekhsanoat Association launched an information campaign in January 2012 to inform population on rules of utilization of mercury-containing lamps. Legal entities should submitted used mercury-containing lamps to utilization shops. They can purchase new lamps in shops with 5% discount.

Soon, the utilization shop will be launched on the base of Uzbek-Korean enterprise UzKor Lighting at the Navoi free industrial and economic zone. The enterprise also produces mercury-containing lamps.

In perspective, it is planned to create one more joint venture on production of energy saving lamps and it will also have shop on utilization of mercury-containing lamps, representative of Uzeltekhsanoat Mansur Khoshimov said.

In 2011, two joint ventures, commissioned in the fourth quarter, produced 657,000 lamps. In 2012, it is planned to produce more lamps.

According to the resolution, expenses on utilization of mercury-containing lamps will be covered due to preferential loans, offered to enterprises within the localization programme. The localization level in initial stage will be 30.1%. Other part of spare parts is imported.
