Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 September 2020, a meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development U. Azamov with the Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) M. Lomidze in the format of video conferencing, in order to discuss the state and prospects of development bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
The Russian side was informed in detail about the development of the tourism sector in Uzbekistan, tourism infrastructure and new types of tourism, measures taken in the country to support the tourism business during a pandemic for the early recovery of the industry, as well as the gradual softening of conditions for the resumption of international tourism to the republic.
The ATOR leadership was informed about the details of the decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated June 19 of this year. "On additional measures for the development of the tourism sector with strict observance of the requirements of an enhanced sanitary and epidemiological safety regime", the introduction of the sanitary and epidemiological safety system "Uzbekistan. Safe Travel GUARANTEED", the creation of the "Register of safe objects", as well as other measures to organize safe conditions for domestic and inbound tourism. Maya Lomidze expressed great interest in the measures taken in Uzbekistan to develop and restore the tourism sector, ensure the safety of foreign visitors, as well as liberalize the air transportation market in the country.
During the negotiations, M. Lomidze noted that Uzbekistan is considered in Russia as a year-round destination, arouses great interest among Russian tourists, who are also waiting for the opening of regular flights with the republic.
As a result, the parties agreed to continue this dialogue format on a regular basis to develop cooperation and implement new projects jointly with Uzbek and Russian tour companies, as well as use the Association’s sites to promote the tourism potential of the republic among the Russian public.
