Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 August, an online meeting was held between a group of experts from the State Committee for Tourism Development and the head of the Planning Department, tourism content strategist of the Canadian National Geographic TV channel Katerina Salt and director of the channel for cooperation in the field of tourism Nitu Kamboy.
At the meeting, which was held for the second time, the plan proposed by National Geographic experts to cover the tourism potential of Uzbekistan on this TV channel and its pages on social networks was discussed.
National Geographic TV channel has a very wide audience worldwide and broadcasts in 172 countries, and its magazine is published in 37 languages around the world, with 63 million readers.
At the previous meeting, the parties discussed the countries from which mainly tourists visit Uzbekistan (Turkey, Japan, South Korea, India, France, Germany, Spain), at the same meeting they discussed issues of promoting tourism products to new markets (USA, Canada, Australia , Brazil, Poland, Mexico, Norway).
The staff of the TV channel shared their statistics. Also, as part of the promotion of the tourism opportunities of Uzbekistan by the TV channel, at the meeting, the storytelling approach was promoted.
The online meeting discussed 4 stories describing our country and the Nat Geo Photocamp project aimed at improving photography skills among young people. It is planned that the projects will be implemented within two years, the first phase will begin in the spring of 2021 with the filming of stories, and by the end of the year it will be presented to the general public on all National Geographic platforms.
At the second stage of the project, materials on tourism in Uzbekistan will be broadcast on television and in print media. It is also planned to promote Uzbekistan through social networks.
Based on the agreements reached during the meeting, the State Committee for Tourism Development is currently considering financing these projects.
