Negotiations take place to attract Thai airlines to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 September, negotiations were held via video conferencing between the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Food and Drug Administration of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The parties exchanged views and experiences in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism industry and discussed plans for priority measures to resume international tourist travel.

In particular, the Committee provided detailed information on the new system of sanitary and epidemiological safety in tourism “Uzbekistan. Safe travel GUARANTEED”, new tourist sites and promising routes for the Thai market.

Director for CIS countries of TAT Anoma Wongyay confirmed the high interest of the Thai side in the resumption of mutual tourist trips, noting the need to increase regular flights between Uzbekistan and Thailand.

The Committee also proposed to intensify the work to attract Thai airlines, taking into account the created ample opportunities and measures to support the Government of Uzbekistan ("Open Skies" regime, subsidies for the number of tourists, tariff benefits, etc.).

At the conference, the issues of training personnel for the tourism sector were discussed in detail. It was proposed to consider the opening of a joint tourism college with the involvement of one of the leading universities in Thailand on the basis of secondary specialized educational institutions under the State Committee for Tourism.

In conclusion, the departments agreed to hold videoconferences on a regular basis with the involvement of tourism enterprises and associations of both countries.
