NBU included to list of 100 largest banks of CIS
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity (NBU) entered to the list of 100 largest commercial banks of the CIS, which was developed by Rating Agency RIA Reyting.

Rating Agency RIA Reyting conducted research of the bank sector of the CIS and presented the list of 100 largest banks of the CIS in 2011. The agency said that it compiled rating based on information from open sources, statistics of Central Banks’ of the CIS, public financial reports of the banks. The rating is aimed at comparative assessment of the banks, which operate in the CIS territory.

Only 100 banks from 1,400 banks from seven countries of the CIS included to the rating. They are from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The list did not change compared to previous year.

At the same time, the minimal size of the assets of the bank, required to enter list of 100 largest banks, grew by 19% compared to previous year. If, the minimum size of assets of the 100th bank in rating was US$1.78 billion, this year it made up US$2.12 billion.

Total assets of 100 largest banks of the CIS made up US$1.23 trillion as of 1 January 2012, or grew by US$136 billion or 12.5% year-on-year, according to the assessments of RIA Reyting.

NBU claimed the 50th place in the ranking, which two places down compared to 2010 rating. The assets of the Uzbekistan bank rose by 3.5% year-on-year in 2011.

The agency said that two more banks can enter to the list of 100 largest banks of the CIS. Uzpromsttroybank and Asaka Bank has assets for US$1.9 billion.
