NBU can open branches abroad
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to further improve the activities of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan” on 13 November 2017.

President defined the priority areas of activity of the NBU in the areas of foreign economic activity, support of small businesses and private entrepreneurship, as well as provision of retail banking services.

The document said that the NBU is a state bank and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the sole founder.

The President abolished the earlier decision to reorganize the Bank from a unitary enterprise into a joint stock company.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev provided the NBU with the right to create representative offices, branches, subsidiaries in foreign countries - economic partners of Uzbekistan and to attract state budget funds as deposits.

In late September 2017, a decision was made to increase the authorized capital of the bank. The authorized fund of the bank was increased up to 236.21 billion soums and US$451 million (previously 79 billion soums and US$400 million).
