Navoiazot OJSC to launch PVC, caustic code production in 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Navoiazot open joint stock company, an Uzbek chemical plant in Navoi region, will start construction of new complex on production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and caustic soda in 2011.

According to Marketing and Sales Department of Navoiazot, the annual capacity of the complex will make up 50,000 tonnes of PVC and 32,000 tonnes of caustic soda, as well as 23,000 tonnes of acetylene. Navoiazot OJSC will finance the project due to own resources.

Currently, the enterprise is developing feasibility project of the complex on production of ammonia and carbamide within Navoi region. On preliminary calculation, the company’s capacity will make up 900,000 tonnes of ammonia and 1 million tonnes of carbamide a year.

Within the State Programme on localization of ready products and spare parts, Navoiazot plans to organize production of methanol, olefin and products from them. Total capacity will make up about 500,000 tonnes.

The plant also plans to commission new production of potassium nitrate, additionally to existing capacities. In the first phase, the capacity of new technologic line will make up 20,000 tonnes a year. Later, the capacities will rose by 3,000 tonnes a year. According to Uzkimyosanoat, the project is important for providing green houses of Uzbekistan with potassium fertilizers.

In 2012, it is planned to launch production of dimethyl ether – ecologically clean diesel fuel and household liquefied gas. The volume will make up about 2,000 tonnes a year. Thanks to launch of monochloroacetic acid, Uzbekistan will sport production of carboxymethylcellulose. The capacity of the capacities will make up 2,500 tonnes a year.

Navoiazot will supply bleaching means to paper processing, ginneries and textile enterprises of Uzbekistan in the beginning of 2014.

In 2010, the enterprise launched production of sal ammonia within the State programme on localization of ready products. This chemical product is valuable reagent to clean surface for welding non-ferrous metals. The capacity of the newly commissioned facility is 96,000 tonnes of sal ammonia a year.

Navoiazot started to supply chemical reagents to gold-mining enterprises of Uzbekistan in 2009-2010. Among them are thiourea, polyacrylamide gel, cyanic sodium. The capacity of the facility is 1,400 tonnes of thiourea, 1,000 tonnes of polyacrylamide gel and 17m000 tonnes of cyanic sodium a year. The plans will soon start to supply cyan salts to the Uzbek gold producers soon. In 2012, the production of cyan salts, on preliminary project, will make up at least 10,000 tonnes a year.

Navoiazot open joint stock company is largest chemical plant of Uzbekistan. Navoiazot started its activity in 1964 as the plant on production of mineral fertilizers. The plant is leading producer of mineral fertilizers in Uzbekistan, products of organic synthesis and nitron fiber.

On technical equipment and the volume of production, Navoiazot OJSC is leader of chemical industry of Uzbekistan, which produces over 70 types of goods.

The prices to products, exported by Navoiazot, decreased due to global financial-economic crisis, but the enterprise increased the exports volume. In 2009, the hard currency revenue of Navoiazot from goods export comprised US$61.731 million. Over 63.7% of total exports fell to share of the CIS states and 36.3% - foreign states. The enterprise exported products for US$62.817 million in 2008 and US$56.157 million in 2007.
