The negotiations took place as part of a working visit of officials and businessmen of Navoi region to Omsk region, headed by khokim Normat Tursunov.

During the meeting, the parties outlined further steps to develop cooperation and identified key areas and projects.

Vitaly Khotsenko noted that Uzbekistan is an important partner of Omsk region among the countries of Central Asia. According to him, in 2023, Uzbekistan took sixth place in the volume of foreign trade of Omsk region.

“Today we see significant prospects for cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation. Omsk enterprises in the field of mechanical engineering, chemical products, instrument making and the agro-industrial complex are open to the implementation of joint projects,” said the Russian official.

Omsk region and Uzbekistan actively cooperate in the food industry. Enterprises of Omsk region supply confectionery products, condensed milk, flour and pasta to Uzbekistan.

The agro-industrial sector is also of mutual interest. Agricultural enterprises are ready to establish long-term connections for the supply of wheat, barley and oilseeds to Uzbekistan, as well as for interaction in the field of seed production and selection of grains, legumes and oilseeds, providing farmers with tillage machines and units, breeding equipment and equipment for cultivating potatoes.

Vitaly Khotsenko emphasized that Omsk region is ready for interaction in the humanitarian sphere. About 20 cooperation agreements have been concluded between Omsk and Uzbek universities.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Government of Omsk region and the Khokimiyat of Navoi region on the implementation of international and foreign economic relations in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

Normat Tursunov said that this agreement will be the starting point for the development of mutually beneficial bilateral relations.

The head of Navoi region proposed creating a working group to implement the signed agreement.

“In preparation for this meeting, we found out that the economies of our regions are very similar and to some extent complement each other. In particular, such industries as mechanical engineering, metallurgy, light and food industries are basic for our regions. This opens up wide opportunities for cooperation for entrepreneurs,” noted khokim Normat Tursunov.

He also emphasized that the agreement will contribute to strengthening cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and the exchange of the best scientific and practical experience between regions. “I especially want to emphasize that there are great opportunities to strengthen our trade and economic cooperation,” Tursunov added.

Governor Vitaly Khotsenko expressed confidence that the signing of the agreement will be the beginning of the further development of bilateral partnership in all directions. As part of the working visit, the delegation of Navoi region will also visit a number of enterprises, factories and scientific centers of Omsk region.
