National Energy Efficiency Agency to be established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has signed a decree aimed at improving state governance in the field of energy efficiency and the development of the energy service market.

The document provides for the establishment of the National Energy Efficiency Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, reports the Ministry of Justice.

The new agency will be responsible for implementing unified state policies in energy saving, as well as developing and introducing measures to stimulate energy efficiency improvements.

Starting from 1 July 2025, the agency will begin providing subsidies to cover part of the costs for energy audits of residential buildings and the installation of energy-efficient equipment. As part of the program, the government will compensate up to 20% of the cost of solar panels and solar collectors, as well as up to 40% of the cost of heat pumps. However, the subsidy amount will not exceed 50 times the basic calculation value (18.75 million soums).

By 1 September 2025, the launch of a digital platform for energy efficiency issues is planned, as well as the creation of an off-budget Fund for the stimulation and support of energy savings. By October 1, "green" standards for energy-efficient technologies will be introduced for manufacturers and importers.

Earlier, on 26 March, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of installing energy-saving equipment and reducing energy losses at industrial enterprises during a meeting with the government. Authorities plan to establish a system for implementation and control in this area.
