Stylish and enchanting festival each time strengthens position of the Uzbek designers, who combine modern design ideas and elements of traditional Uzbek costumes. The festival has been organized in 2005 as independent event.
In 2006, the festival was held in Bukhara and won sympathy of people. The festival became part of Style.uz, which debuted in the same year.
On 26 October, the National Dress Festival took the baton from the Second International Theatre Festival Theatre.uz 2011, which pleased citizens and guests of Tashkent with plays within a week.
At the beginning of the National Dress Festival, the closing ceremony of the Second International Theatre Festival Theatre.uz 2011 was held. The guests of the National Dress Festival watched small theatric play, which charmed with bright costumes, skilled choreography and wonderful play of actors.
The National Dress Festival presented over 160 models, which were part of 17 new fashion collections. The models were presented by experienced and young designers. Among them are Soadat Hodjimuradov, Nulufar Ahmedov, Dinara Usmanova, Alena Kan, Yelena Milberger, Liliana, Marhamat Umarova and others.
The National Dress Festival is the result of the laborious work, which was carried out by designers within a year in such directions as studying fabrics structure, methods of printing, studying natural dyes, etc.
Clothes, reflecting culture of Karakalpakstan, attracted attention of the audience, which included unique jewelry, accessories, patterns and lines of clothes. However, the Uzbek designers were able to create traditional Uzbek dress and modern fashion trends.
After the showcase, chairperson of Trustee Council of Fund Forum Gulnara Karimov expressed gratitude all participants and guests of the festival. She underlined that each year Art Week Style.uz is becoming brighter and fruitful, as well as covers all sides of Uzbekistan’s cultural life.
