Uzbekistan 07/11/2007 National-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan nominates presidential candidate
 

The electoral campaign preceding the Presidential elections this year is being carried out during a special moment in the development of an independent state – it is happening during the phase of active reforms and modernization of the country, the intensification of democratic reforms.

The key and determining importance in this is given to the democratization of the state administration and modernization of the country within the frame of the Constitutional Law.

With this in mind the National-Democratic Party of Uzbekistan finds it necessary to take an active party in the electoral campaign, which promises to become a serious political trial, a check of the socio-political maturity of its members, and its primary organizations.

This was discussed during the meeting of the National Democratic Party of Uzbekistan recently held in Tashkent, UzA reported. Among its participants were the the elected representatives of the party councils of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent, the members of the NDPU fraction of parliament, deputies of local Kengashs (Councils), and the representatives of media participated in the meeting.

It was specifically noted that the National Democratic Party of Uzbekistan directs its main efforts towards the activation of its activity, increasing the number of its members (currently constituting about 350,000 people). 28 representatives of the party are the elected members of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan. The members of the NDPU are actively participating in the socio-political life of the country.

During the meeting a decision was made to nominate the head of the party’s fraction in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Asliddin Rustamov for the post of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Rustamov introduced the main items of his pre-election programme to the participants of the meeting.

The members of the party also discussed other issues concerning the party’s activity.
