Uzbekistan’s Nasaf began their AFC Cup campaign with a 3-0 victory over Lebanon’s Al Ansar, thanks to the roaring support of 15,000 fans at the Karshi Central Stadium.
A total of 72, 615 spectators passed through the turnstiles to watch the 16 AFC Cup opening games with an average of 4,538.
Al Karamah received the support of 11,254 passionate fans at the Khaled Ibn Al Waleed Stadium in Homs but they were held 2-2 by Oman’s Al Arouba, forcing coach Mohamed Kwid to step down from his position.
South China’s improved performance in the continental championship in the last few editions saw 9,558 fans turn up to watch them hold Persipura Jayapura (Indonesia) 1-1 at the Hong Kong Stadium.
Last year’s semi-finalists Thailand’s Muang Thong United attracted 9,000 spectators as they thrashed Hanoi T&T 4-0 at the Thunderdome Stadium in Nonthaburi.
