Nasaf stars attract international interest
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The AFC Cup exploits of Nasaf Karshi's European stars Andrejs Pereplotkins and Ivan Boskovic are ensuring that the ever-evolving club competition is attracting media interest outside Asia.

Ukraine-born Pereplotkins, who was granted Latvian citizenship in 2007 and has played over 30 times for the Baltic nation, and Montenegrin marksman Ivan Boskovic, have both been key figures as Nasaf Karshi became the first team from Uzbekistan to reach the final of an AFC club competition.

And their performances with Nasaf have not gone unnoticed in their respective homelands as the duo explained to www.the-afc.com on the eve of Saturday's historic final with Kuwait Sports Club.

"Yes they are," confirmed Pereplotkins (pictured) when asked if the media in Latvia were following the well-travelled 26-year-old, who has had spells with clubs in Ukraine, Russia, Belgium, Ireland and England as well as his adopted homeland, where made almost a century of appearances for top Latvian side Skonto Riga.

"They write about me on Latvian websites but they have told me that it's a bit difficult to get information," he added.

Boskovic added that the media in Montenegro are keen followers of their countrymen playing overseas revealing that compatriot Darko Markovic, who helped Nasaf's Uzbekistan rivals Pakhtakor to the quarter-finals of the 2009 AFC Champions League, was regularly featured during the 24-year-old midfielder's time with the Tashkent giants.

"Yes, they (the media) know about Uzbekistan football and express interest in me," said the 2011 AFC Cup's leading scorer.

"Newspapers used to write about Darko Markovich when he played for Pakhtakor and journalists from Montenegro interview me often, as well.
