Nasaf Karshi seals a 2-1 win over Al Faisaly
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nasaf Karshi continued their march through this season’s AFC Cup as goals from Lutfulla Turaev and Ilkhom Shamuradov sealed a 2-1 win over Al Faisaly at Karshi Central Stadium.

Turaev broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark and Shamuradov extended the lead in the second-half before Anas Hijah pulled a goal back for the visitors 11 minutes from the end.

Nasaf had the first shot on target when Turaev’s strike from 30 yards after eight minutes was saved by Zapen Al Khawaldeh before they came even closer to going in front 14 minutes later when the Al Faisaly keeper was beaten by Shamuradov’s shot but the crossbar came to his rescue.

The hosts eventually took the lead in the 28th minute when Batyr Karaev’s cross from the left flank found Turaev inside the area and he headed the ball into the net.

Khalil Zaid spurned a great chance to equalise for the visitors when he found himself one-on-one with Murod Zuhurov, but could not beat the keeper five minutes before the break while Nasaf picked up two bookings in the opening period with both for Karayev and Ivan Boskovic having their names taken.

The second-half began with a caution for Shamuradov but he regained his composure to net Nasaf’s second goal when he converted a cross from Turkmenistan midfielder Artur Gevorkyan to give the home side some breathing space.

Boskovic then saw a shot saved by Al Khawaldeh before Al Faisaly almost got themselves back into the game in the 72nd minute when Hijah’s free-kick was saved by Zukhurov.

And Hijah did halve the deficit seven minutes later when he went through one-on-one with the keeper and made the most of the chance.

Nasaf were not content to sit back and preserve their lead and Gevorkyan saw an effort smack the bar as they closed out a seventh consecutive victory in this season’s competition that sends them into the last eight.
