Nasaf faces Chonburi in AFC Cup quarterfinals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- West Asian teams will aim to maintain their stranglehold on the AFC Cup trophy as four teams from the region discovered the identity of their opponents in the quarter-final stage on Tuesday.

Kuwait Sports Club, who lifted the cup in 2009 after beating Syria’s Al Karamah 2-1 and overcame domestic arch-rivals Al Qadsia on penalties this time to reach the last eight, will host Thai powerhouse Muang Thong United in the first leg on September 13 before travelling to Bangkok for the return leg on September 27.

Uzbekistan’s Nasaf, who had a perfect record in this year’s competition winning all their seven games, will lock horns against Thailand’s second representative in the quarter-finals Chonburi FC.

Iraqi champions Duhok will meet Jordan’s Al Wehdat in an all-West last eight encounter while Indonesia’s Persipura Jayapura will take on Iraq’s Arbil.

The two-legged semi-finals will be played on October 4 and 18 while the one-off final will be played on October 29.

The trophy has remained in West Asia since the tournament’s inception in 2004.

THE QUARTER-FINALS (September 13 and 27)
