Nasaf earns a point in Kuwait
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kazma put themselves on the brink of a place in the second phase of the AFC Cup despite being held to a goalless draw by Nasaf Karshi at the Friendship and Peace Stadium on Wednesday.

Both sides had chances to break the deadlock but ultimately failed to find the back of the net. The result leaves Kazma on top of Group C with 10 points, three ahead of their Uzbek rivals with Syria’s Al Jaish third on four points following their 6-3 win over Al Ahed.

After a slow start to the game, Nasaf showed their attacking intentions as they began to control the proceedings and they that had the first chance after 16 minutes but Maksud Karimov struck a free-kick straight at Kazma goalkeeper Ahmad Al Fadhli.

Kazma began to get into the game more and they should have scored after 27 minutes when Ali Al Mashmoum broke into the area but his powerful shot went over the crossbar.

The home side continued to pressure in the next few minutes and they came close in the 33rd minute when Mohammed Jamal saw a decent strike from outside the area fly wide of the target.

Kazma had another sight of goal in the 36th minute but Tareq Al Shemeri’s effort from outside the box was wide of the mark before Nasaf striker Siarhei Krot had a chance at the other end shortly afterwards when he collected a smart ball inside the area but he fired wide of the right-hand post.

Nasaf continued to threaten the hosts and they had another chance five minutes before the break when Ilkhom Shomurodov found Islom Inomov with a neat pass but the latter could not hit the target.

The best chance in the first-half came for the visitors three minutes before the break when Shomurodov had only the goalkeeper to beat but his shot was well saved by the foot of Al Fadhli.

The second-half saw a marked improvement from Kazma and they had the first chance in the 58th minute when Nawaf Al Humaidan struck a fierce effort from just inside the area but the ball went wide.

Kazma had another opening eight minutes after the hour mark when Yousef Al Soliman picked up Mohammed Jamal’s pass but could not find the target with his shot.

As the game wound down, Nasaf stepped up the pressure in search of a winner and Inomov was off target in the 83rd minute before Botir Qodirqulov fired over the crossbar three minutes later.

Nasaf nearly scored a dramatic late winner in the second minute of stoppage time when Inomov’s free-kick was headed goalwards by substitute Bahodir Murtozaev but Al Fadhli was equal to the attempt before the keeper saved another header from Murtozaev one minute later.
