NAPU becomes an authorized body in the field of e-government

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Project Management Agency (NAPU) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has become an authorized body in the field of e-government.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On additional measures the introduction of the digital economy, e-government, and information systems in the public administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

According to the document, NAPU is the authorized body in the field of e-government, as well as implementation of information systems in public administration, responsible for developing and implementing a unified state policy and coordinating the activities of government bodies and organizations in this field.

The Agency’s decisions in the field of e-government, as well as the implementation of information systems in public administration, taken within its competence, are binding for all ministries, departments and organizations of the republic, the document said.

The Agency will carry out mandatory examination of projects for creation and implementation of information systems, resources and other software products in public administration, as well as drafts of regulatory legal acts providing for their implementation.

NAPU will cooperate with international financial institutions and foreign government financial organizations in the framework of the implementation of tasks on the introduction of the digital economy.

The head of Uzbekistan ordered to suspend implementation and financing of ongoing projects for the creation and implementation of interdepartmental and departmental information systems, databases, software products and other projects in the field of information and communication technologies in the framework of the Electronic Government system.

By 1 April 2019, NAPU is charged to critical review of ongoing projects and resumption of projects, implementation of which will be deemed expedient, timely and consistent with the goals and objectives of the development of the digital economy in the republic.

The Agency must, by 1 May 2019, ensure the development and submission to the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of the draft Concept of development of the Electronic Government system.
