Namangan region to produce 2,645 tonnes of silkworm cocoons
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Namangan region of Uzbekistan is planning to produce 2,645 tonnes of silkworm cocoons in 2011. Procurement points started to distribute 47,900 boxes of silkworm eggs to the population.
This year, the region localized production of silkworm eggs, which helped to stop imports from China. Jidakapa Qurt Urugi Etishtirish produced 8,000 boxes of silkworm eggs this year.
Silkworm eggs were also produced in Narin, Turakurgan, Uychi districts of Namangan region. Pravda Vostoka said farmers of these districts received silkworm eggs.
The paper said that some 500,000 samplings of mulberry trees were planted in the region and population prepared special premises to breading caterpillars.
