Namangan khokim demands removal of illegally installed traffic violation cameras

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Khokim (Mayor) of Namangan, Anvar Otakhodjaev, has sent a letter to the head of the Road Safety Department of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mansur Gaziev, requesting the removal of illegally installed photo and video radars.

The document notes that during meetings with residents, there has been increasing dissatisfaction with fines for traffic violations captured by automatic cameras. It is emphasized that some of these devices have been installed in violation of regulatory requirements — on building rooftops and on street lighting poles, which are under the jurisdiction of municipal and district landscaping services.

"Violation recording using such cameras not only causes financial harm but also moral damage to the residents of Namangan," the letter states.

Anvar Otakhodjaev proposed removing such cameras from the system in Namangan, as well as in the Davlatabad and Yanginamangansky districts. He also called for suspending the issuance of fines based on data from these devices and using them solely for ensuring road safety.
